Fear of Confrontation?

Can I just say how annoying it is when you are talking to someone on the phone, and I mean someone you really care about, maybe saying things that they don't particularly like to hear, and they hang up the phone - why do they do that, they cannot deal with confrontation at all or is it they see some truth in your words and that really gets to them?
